Begin with a scenic boat trip from Mugi to Dewa Island in Tokushima Prefecture's southernmost Ocean Town. Explore the historic Dewa Island, a 0.4 sq km remote gem with a legacy of prosperity from bonito fishing immigrants during the late Edo to early Showa periods. During summer (July to September), experience a unique SUP cruise to a nearby uninhabited island, approximately 7 km offshore, with opportunities for snorkeling. Retire for the evening in Ocean Town, captivated by the local maritime delights.

Day 2: Cycling Extravaganza with DMV
Embark on a cycling journey around Ocean Town using an e-bike. Traverse the alluring landscapes, from the vast plains formed by the Kaifu River to the breathtaking Rias-style coastline of the Muroto-Anan Coastal Quasi-National Park. Explore local landmarks like the Wave-Cutting Fudo Myo-o and Joman-ji Temple, following a route carefully curated by MATE. Later in the day, brace yourself for an unparalleled experience aboard the DMV, connecting Ocean Town in Tokushima to Toyo Town in Kochi along the coastal line. Witness the first-ever commercial operation of this dual-mode vehicle, seamlessly transitioning between road and rail. Feel the thrill of the journey packed into the small 18-seat body. Tour Features

  • A specialized local guide will be taking you to areas that are not always the most accessible.
  • You will head for an island called Deba Island. A guide will show you around the island. You can then experience SUP or diving on the uninhabited island.
  • Experience the still natural beauty of small-town Japan and the rich history and culture of the area. State of the art eco-friendly brand E-Bike “MATE” will be used.
  • The included meals will feature all local ingredients that reflect the freshness of the season.
  • Interact with authentic local culture by taking part in a ceremony at Todoroki Shrine
  • Nasa Bay Amabe Oyster Field
    A visit to the Amabe Oyster Farm located in the Nasa Bay, which has long been a source of the shellfish for the area. Here visitors will learn the surprising history of the local fishing culture as well as just how an oyster farm operates under the guidance of Kensuke Iwamoto.*Please note that the course and its contents may change due to weather or seasonality.

Kensuke Iwamoto was born in 1983 in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. He attended university at the University of the Ryukyus and received degrees in science before going on working holidays in New Zealand in addition to traveling abroad for research. Once completing graduate school, Kensuke worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of the Ryukyus Okinawa Prefectural Fisheries Experiment Center where he conducted research related to fishery resource management. In 2018, he established Ribble Co. Ltd. with the hope of, “becoming the world’s most interesting fishery industry.” Ribble Co. is focused on the distribution of oyster “seeds” and the oyster farming industry. The following year, Kensuke became involved with Todoroki Shrine and was designated a “shrine bearer” for the Todoroki Shrine Autumn Festival. From 2019 he has served as the secretary general of the Todoroki Shrine Respect Association and is the shrine’s general representative. In March of 2021, he together with Reki Nagahara established Mitsuguruma, LLC.
